Job Summary: Are you looking for your next step in the New Zealand dairy industry? We are searching for a skilled, leadership-ready Assistant Farm Manager to join our family run 1200 cow dairy platform in Northern Southland. Working closely with the Farm Manager, you will play a key role in day to day operations and step up to lead the team when required. The role: Position: Assistant Farm Manager Location: Northern Southland Roster: 8-2 / 8-3 Accommodation: 3 bedroom brick house with heat pump and fireplace. Key Responsibilities: - Manage milking procedures and animal health monitoring - Oversee feeding systems and pasture management - Assist with calving and animal husbandry tasks - Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment - Maintain effluent and irrigation systems in compliance with environmental standards - Repair and maintain fencing and farm structures - Ensure adherence to health and safety standards across farm operations About You: - Experience in dairy or livestock farming with practical animal care skills - Ability to operate farm machinery and maintain equipment - Knowledge of feeding regimes, calving, and pasture management - Strong and leading work ethic -Experience with Protrack/Minda, Allflex collars, in-shed feeding, and milk meters preferred -Strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and a great team-player attitude.
