Love working with cows but also want time for a life outside of farming? That’s exactly why we run our 1000-cow farm the way we do — with a shift system designed to give our team balance. We’re on the lookout for a great new team member to join us on our 1000-cow farm just outside of Hinds, Ashburton. If you’ve got a couple of years’ dairy experience under your belt and you’re keen to work with a supportive crew, we’d love to hear from you! A bit about the job • Roster: 8/2 – 8/3, averaging around 40 hours a week. • Shifts are usually 8 hours, with typical times being: o Early herd: 4.30am–1.30pm o Second herd: 5.30am–2.30pm o Afternoon milk: 9.00am–5.00pm (These are a guide only – we all know farming can be a little unpredictable!) • 54-bail rotary shed with automatic cup removers • Irrigation includes pivot, lateral, rotorainer and the trusty “shitigator.” What we’re looking for • Minimum 2 years’ experience on a NZ dairy farm. • Reliable, hardworking, and enjoys a laugh with the team. • Good stock sense and animal health awareness. • We’re proud of the way we run and present our farm, and we’d love someone who shares that same pride in the work they do. • Able to work independently and as part of a crew. What’s in it for you • Competitive pay, based on experience. • A roster that gives you actual time off. • Tidy two-bedroom house included. • Supportive, family-friendly farm environment. You’ll need • To already be in NZ (sorry, no visa sponsorship). • A current driver’s licence. How to Apply We’d love to get to know you beyond just your CV. Please send us: • Your CV, and • A covering letter telling us about yourself, your background, and a little about your family or lifestyle so we can get to know you as a person, not just an employee. Send applications to: winlum@outlook.com. References from previous farm roles are appreciated.
