

We are seeking a motivated Farm Assistant or aspiring 2IC to join our team, replacing a valued team member who has been with us for several years and is leaving to pursue a career change. About the Farm Small, family-owned and operated dairy farm 130ha milking platform 450 Jersey cows 36-aside herringbone shed with ARC (Automatic Cup Removers) Milking twice daily Because of our size, you will be involved in all areas of the farm system — not just one part of the operation — making this an ideal role for someone wanting to expand their knowledge and progress. Location We are located in Mount Somers, in the Canterbury foothills, offering stunning mountain scenery and a fantastic outdoor lifestyle. Local amenities include: Primary school Local store and garage Close to Ashburton Lakes and numerous hiking tracks Short drive to Mt Hutt ski field 30 minutes to Methven or Ashburton townships This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys rural living and outdoor activities. The Role You will work as part of a small team to complete daily farm operations, including: Twice-daily milking (cupping cows, yard wash-down, plant wash) Moving and managing stock Setting up paddocks and break fences Feeding out using tractor Feeding calves Operating quad bike safely and efficiently Moving and maintaining K-lines Spraying and weed control Cleaning and maintaining the dairy shed and machinery We operate an 11 days on / 3 days off roster, which generally means every second Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off.
