Farm Assistants & Calf Rearer Needed, Canterbury, NZ – June 2026 Start
Description
We are looking for enthusiastic farm assistants and a dedicated calf rearer to join our 306-hectare dairy farm in Rakaia. You'll be part of a large-scale, grass-based operation managing 1250 spring-calving cows. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills on a progressive, team-oriented dairy farm. Requirements: - Enthusiastic and committed approach with a willingness to learn all aspects of dairy farming - Ideally some prior experience or a strong interest in dairy farming and animal husbandry. - Reliability and adaptability to the demands of a large-scale spring calving farm - Eligibility to work in New Zealand (working holiday visa or valid work authorization) Responsibilities: - Assist with milking 1250 cows on a 60-bail rotary system using automated feeding and drafting - Support calf rearing and manage young stock throughout the season - Participate in pasture management, including irrigation and supplementary feed (e.g. kale and fodder beet) - Contribute to maintenance of farm infrastructure and general farm upkeep - Operate farm machinery and assist with irrigation system use Please contact us to discuss this opportunity further.
