Grovan Pastures is looking for a fixed term calf rearer for the upcoming spring calving season, to assist the team of 6 full time staff (plus relief milkers). The farm milks 1300 cows and is located 10 minutes from Dunsandel, Leeston and Rakaia, 20 minutes from Rolleston. Rearing 330 replacement calves and a small amount of beef calves sold at 10 days old. Remaining calves are managed as bobby calves. Mid July - Mid October. Opportunity for further casual work for the right person 5-2 roster, 3-5hrs per day, may suit between school hours Flexible on start times, and roster negotiable Remuneration based on experience No accommodation - drive in position only. Eligibility to work in NZ and clear English communication is essential. Experience working with livestock is valuable, and good communication with farm staff will ensure a successful calf rearing season. Attention to detail, patience and care for animals is important. If you are new to calf rearing, training will be provided for someone who is keen to learn and motivated to complete the job to a high standard. Permanent farm staff will take care of all calf collection, tubing, cleaning pens, animal health treatments and tagging.
