"Youth seeking hands-on agricultural work"
I’m a 17-year-old looking for an entry-level farm position around/close to Hamilton. I’m really keen to get into the agriculture industry and build a long-term career in it. With finishing school, I’m no longer able to attend my farm work placement or course, and I’ve really been missing that work environment. Although I’m still fairly new to the industry, I’m super keen to get back into it, gain more experience, and work my way up. I’ve had hands-on experience through school, Toi Ohomai courses, and work placements, including dairy farm work, livestock handling (cows and sheep), milking, drenching, wool sorting and pressing, fencing (electric and break fences), and general farm maintenance. I’ve also got some experience moving sheep, feeding lambs, and working in the wool shed doing rousing/sorting wool. I’ve also got some basic engineering skills like welding and using tools. I hold a Restricted Licence, Forklift Licence, First Aid Certificate, Working at Heights, and Health & Safety unit standards. I’m reliable, hardworking, and not afraid of getting stuck in. I’m always keen to learn and improve my skills. If anyone knows of any opportunities or can point me in the right direction, I’d really appreciate it. Accommodation would also be something I’d be interested in, as I’d be travelling from the Chartwell area. Having accommodation available would be really helpful, especially while I continue building my experience and working towards a long-term career in the industry. My partner works full-time and is also starting his apprenticeship soon, which requires him to travel in and around Hamilton, so accommodation that may allow for my partner to stay as well would be a huge bonus🙂 Nga mihi
